Rice Cooking and Storage

How to Cook Our Rice

 Electric rice cooker

Please follow the manufacturer's directions, and be sure to soak the rice for 30-60 minutes after rinsing and before cooking.

 Stove top pot (wash-free rice)

Wash-free rice has slightly more volume when using a measuring cup for rice, so we recommend using a digital scale to measure the rice. One cup of wash-free rice is 150 grams.*

Using filtered water, pour the rice into the pan and fill with the correct amount of water. For every 150 grams of rinse-free rice, please use 180 ml - 190 ml of filtered water. Rinse the rice briefly once or twice, before placing it in the pot.

Use the tips of your fingers like a whisk and gently agitate the rice for 4-5 seconds. Do not use too much force or you risk damaging the grains. This is to make sure there are no air pockets or clumps.

Let the rice stand for at least 30 to 60 minutes before moving to the next step.

With the lid on the pan, bring to a boil over medium heat.

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cook 12-13 minutes with the lid on, or until the water is completely absorbed. (If you see any water left, close the lid and continue cooking for a little longer.) We suggest using a glass lid, as you can see inside the pot without having to open the lid during cooking.

Remove the pan from the heat and let it steam for another 10 minutes, with the lid on.

Remove the lid from the pan and fluff up the rice using a rice spatula, making sure to scrape along the bottom of the pot.

Freeze any leftover rice, our varieties hold up well and will still taste great.

*One cup (150 grams) will yield approximately two servings of steamed rice.

Rice Storage

As rice is a fresh grain, it's important to store your rice properly in order to maintain freshness and flavor. In addition to keeping the rice in an airtight container, we recommend the following methods for storing our rice:

 Refrigerated storage

Refrigerated storage is ideal and will keep the rice fresh and tasty for almost twice as long as if you store it at room temperature. If you have the space, the best place inside your refrigerator is the vegetable drawer.

 When stored at room temperature

If you don't have space in the refrigerator, store it in a cool and well-ventilated place, avoiding places where the temperature tends to rise, such as near a microwave oven or refrigerator, or where moisture tends to accumulate, such as under a sink. Also avoid exposure to direct sunlight.

     4.炊く

Great Rice
